About the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence
OCAGV History
The Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence (OCAGV) started as a committee of volunteers. In June of 1995, OCAGV originated because of the Interracial Religious Coalition's (IRC) concern about gun violence.
The IRC works to promote racial, ethnic and religious harmony. The Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence began our work under the auspices of Toledo Metropolitan Mission (TMM). TMM works ecumenically to improve the quality of life for all citizens of the area, especially the poor and powerless.
The Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence's goal is to increase safety in Ohio in regards to firearms. OCAGV educates about gun homicides, suicides, and unintentional deaths and injuries. The Coalition supports and encourages local, state and federal legislation to reduce the accessibility of firearms in our communities and families.
